2024 Scholarship Recipient/Guest Speaker Nia Rakin
was officially established in 2014 by a group of individuals who attended one of the historically black high schools in Charlotte; Second Ward, West Charlotte, and York Road. They were inspired by a number of mentors at each of the High Schools who were instrumental in motivating students to attend colleges and universities. In an interest of carrying on the traditions of these mentors, BMP was organized. BMP received its articles of incorporation and tax exempt status on August 15, 2015.

Black Men With a Purpose, Inc - BMP, has earned the 2020, 2021 and 2023 Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid/GuideStar, the world's largest source of nonprofit information. By sharing these metrics, we are helping the sector move beyond simplistic financial ratios to assess nonprofit progress.
We choose to display quantitative metrics such as METRIC 1, METRIC 2, and METRIC 3 to represent how hard BMP is working toward achieving our mission.
To reach the Platinum level, we added extensive information to our Nonprofit profile: basic contact and organizational information; in-depth financial information; quantitative information about goals, strategies and progress toward our mission.

TRUIST Bank GRANT
Black Men With a Purpose, Inc was awarded a $5000.00 grant from Truist Bank. The grant will be used to promote racial equity in targeted Title 1 schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg area by eradicating inequities in education.
MIssion
Black Men with a Purpose is a non-profit organization, focused on identifying at risk youth in the community and assisting them as positive role models and mentors. The objective is to provide guidance to assist them in maintaining their academics through the completion of high school and seek enrollment in a post High School academic curriculum. The organization will accomplish this by providing hands on involvement and financial support to eligible students. The organization will strive to be involved with the political process at the local, state and national levels, and involved with social issues locally.
