To support under-served youth in the community by providing mentoring and other resources that are needed to assist them continuing their post-secondary education
BLack Men With a Purpose
was officially established in 2014 by a group of individuals who
attended one of the historically black high schools in Charlotte;
Second Ward, West Charlotte, and York Road. They were inspired
by a number of mentors at each of the High Schools who were
instrumental in motivating students to attend colleges and
universities. In an interest of carrying on the traditions of these
mentors, BMP was organized. BMP received its articles of
incorporation and tax exempt status on August 15, 2015.

Black Men With a Purpose, Inc was awarded a $5000.00 grant from
Truist Bank. The grant will be used to promote racial equity in
targeted Title 1 schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg area by
eradicating inequities in education.

Black Men With a Purpose, Inc - BMP, has earned the 2020, 2021 and 2023 Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid/GuideStar, the world's largest source of nonprofit information. By sharing these metrics, we are helping the sector move beyond simplistic financial ratios to assess nonprofit progress.

We choose to display quantitative metrics such as METRIC 1, METRIC 2, and METRIC 3 to represent how hard BMP is working toward achieving our mission.
To reach the Platinum level, we added extensive information to our Nonprofit profile: basic contact and organizational information; in-depth financial information; quantitative information about goals, strategies and progress toward our mission.

The mission of Black Men with a Purpose as men of great faith, is to enhance the quality of life for our traditionally underrepresented youth by providing support services that empower and enrich their lives through mentoring, civic involvement increased educational and economic opportunities and serving as positive role models.
